A sewer line rupture has a portion of a busy road connecting El Dorado Hills and Folsom shut down as crews work to fix the pipe, according to the El Dorado Irrigation District.

The sewer line broke sometime before 3 p.m. Friday under Green Valley Road near Hidden Acres Lane.

One westbound lane of Green Valley Road remains closed as crews work to fix the rupture and keep the sewage from getting into Folsom Lake, the irrigation district said.

The city of Folsom is using multiple trucks designed to suck up liquid.

Crews are expecting to work on the roadway until about midnight.

There is no word on when the lane will reopen.
